"The most targets hit with a bullwhip in one minute is 70, and was achieved by Jack Lepiarz (USA) in Bordentown, New Jersey, USA, on 11 June 2017. "The bullwhip used was a 5 ft, 1in long, kangaroo-hide bullwhip made by Victor “Skip” SanSoucie. The attempt took place in front of a live crowd at the New Jersey Renaissance Faire."

The most stock whip cracks on a slackline in one minute is 231, and was achieved by Adam Winrich at the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, Texas, USA, on 28 October 2018. (It took Adam two months of slackline training before attempting this record.)

The most stock whip cracks on a slackline in one minute is 127 and was achieved by April Choi (USA) at Bradley Park, in Peoria, Illinois, on 27 September 2016. The slackline measured 462 cm long and was suspended 108 cm off the ground.

MOST PEOPLE PLAYING

WHIPPING TOPS SIMULTANEOUSLY

1,946 people in Baishan, China gathered to play whipping tops at the same time on Jan 22, 2024 at the Songhua River Eco-tourism Scenic Area (the people kept their tops spinning for at least 5 minutes to officially break the record for the most people playing whipping tops simultaneously). A Guinness World Records adjudicator was present.

In China, 1,000 people cracked whipped tops simultaneously on Jan. 13, 2017.
"The most people playing whipping tops simultaneously is 507 and was achieved by the People's Government of Tumen City and Yanbian Morningpost (both China) in Tumen City, Jilin Province, China, on 17 February 2011."
(The participants played on ice. A Trompo or Whipping Top is a toy popular in Latin America. In Spain it is known as "peonza" or "trompa", in Japan as "Koma", with different designs in different cities. It has a pear-shaped body and is usually made of wood, although new resins and strong plastic materials have also been used. RD)

The loudest whip crack is 121.6 db(A), and was achieved by April Choi (USA) in Peoria, Illinois, USA, on 5 February 2017. The whip was a single-stranded, unmodified bull whip that measured 3.4 m (11 ft 2 in) long."

The longest whip cracked was 72.63 m (238 ft 3 in) long, excluding the handle, and was wielded by Adam Winrich (USA) in Fall Creek, Wisconsin, USA, on 20 July 2016.
The longest whip ever cracked (i.e. the end made to travel above the speed of sound) was one of 70.53 m (231.39 ft) excluding the handle, wielded by Christopher Wu (aka Hobbes Flow) in Vienna, IL, USA on June 27, 2015.

The whip-cracking speed and accuracy world record was held by Adam Winrich (USA) who hit 10 targets consecutively with a cracking whip in 2.6 seconds on 31 October 2015.
"The whip-cracking speed and accuracy world record was held by Robert Dante (USA) who hit 10 targets consecutively with a cracking whip in 3.87 seconds at the Camp Crucible, Darlington, Maryland, USA, on 1 June 2013."

LI SHUJIN cracked whip that weighed 14.513 kg (31.99lb), in Liaocheng, Shandong, China, on 18 January 2022. (The whip was 6.3 meters /20 ft 8 in long.)
The heaviest whip cracked iwa 12.250 kg (27 lb), and was achieved by Adam Winrich (USA) in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, on 29 September 2021. (Adam made the whip in the Chinese martial arts style of chain link braiding; This was Adam's 31st Guinness World Record.)

A LAST WORD

"Unofficial" records are found in the minds of non-champions. To make it REAL, you must follow conditions required by Guinness, and that adds a LOT of pressure. Yes, you might fail -- but a lot of really good people have tried to set and break these records, so you'll be in good company. As Emerson said, "DO the thing, and you have the power."

Even more aptly, Theodore Roosevelt said,

"It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat."

People wielding whips have been trying to outdo each other for centuries. Gary Brophy notes that "Saltbush Bill" (Roderick Mills, born in 1869) cracked a 65-foot stockwhip, but these early feats are not official Guinness World Records. Read the fascinating true story of "Saltbush Bill!"
